Robotics is a multi-disciplinary tool that is being increasingly used worldwide in educational programs to motivate, excite, and inspire students about math and science.
Robotics At Christmas provides a hands-on experience in solving real world challenges and exposes students to physics, mechanics, electronics, programming, vocabulary building and much more. Each program we offer, based on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics,) is designed to provide opportunites for skill-building based on development level.
The TinyBots program designed for ages 4 - 6 year olds offers the first experiences with our STEM-based curriculum where young children learn the fundamentals of robotics and programming. Using intuitive iPad-based apps, students practice giving commands to the robots using block-based programming through working on coding challenges and projects. Utilising tools such as Dash & Dot and Sphero, students practise mathematical and programming concepts such as time, speed and conditionals. Through visual and real-world execution of their code, students start to appreciate how software interacts with hardware to develop computational thinking skills
The JuniorBots program designed for ages 7 - 9 year olds introduces kids to hardware programming using Arduino. Using mBot, an Arduino-based, extensible robot kit, students create commands to follow lines, push objects, create useful LED displays and more, to practice key computer science concepts such as loops and conditionals.
The MegaBots program designed for ages 10+ is powered by the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Base Set and software. Students explore the exciting world of robotics and engineering. Combining the versatility of the LEGO building system and intuitive drag-and-drop programming software, this adventure encourages teamwork, friendship, and creativity from day one.
